Cloud Security programs that can carry out safety procedures and address or flag potential high-risk elements are now critical, allowing businesses to function normally without fearing a potential breach. To help you find the best Cloud management and security system for your business, we’ve done the research and found the top systems presently available on the market.

10. CloudPassage Halo

Customer Ranking: 3.5/ 5

CloudPassage offers a ‘three in one automated security package for one price, making it a very cost-effective option. Security and compliance monitoring for workloads that run in any on-premises, public cloud, or hybrid cloud environment are fully automated, meaning if a threat is detected, it will take immediate action and alert the necessary people. Their customer support has some of the best feedback for being helpful and swift response time to issues.

However, the customer reviews on this rate it lowest out of our top ten, this appears to be due to the steep learning curve and technical knowledge needed to use it.

9. Snow Software

Customer Ranking: 4.0/5

Catching our attention is Snow, having already proven themselves impressively in the cloud management systems department and gaining an excellent reputation for assisting in functions such as licensing updates and device visibility. They have achieved a place in this list as our official ‘one to watch’ regarding the future of cloud security.

Their security system cross-references normalized data against NIST’s National Vulnerability Database. It then ranks any suspected risks in order of criticality, ensuring that as soon as there is any data on a new threat released, your system is checked thoroughly for said threat. Following this, you get a report of any risks pinpointing the exact device or application causing the danger ready to be removed.

There isn’t enough user data available on the security function of their system presently to compare them properly with the rest in this list. Still, It is predictable that if Snow does as impressively with threat analysis and security program development as they have with the other areas of cloud management in the future, they will climb to the top.

8. Symantec

Customer Ranking: 4.3/ 5

Symantec is already a very well-known company in the computer security world, so some may be surprised to see it ranking lower than other systems in this list, especially since, according to analyst firms Forrester and Gartner the Symantec CloudSOC is one of the leading “cloud access security broker technologies” available.

User reviews on the systems usability show there are too many other programs that surpass the old security giants like Symantec. This system is still impressive, but elements such as the slow loading of the program due to the size of the components involved, and the steep learning curve it takes to begin using this program, meaning that unless you are already well versed in cloud security and development, this is not the one for you.

7. Palo Alto Prisma Cloud

Customer Ranking: 4.3/ 5

One name surfaces everywhere you look when it comes to Cloud Security, and that’s Palo Alto. This system has earned an excellent reputation for its ability to protect companies from any threats. Certain aspects here match up the others in this list, such as the impressive, centralized management but its compatibility with other systems (such as Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or private clouds). This software works seamlessly with every other program available when it comes to utilizing the cloud in businesses.

Other aspects make it stand out, such as the signature-based Intrusion Detection System (IDS) that shows malicious inbound or outbound network packets and its high scalability when it comes to the number of servers you can have.

Prisma Cloud has a very easy interface for regular users. Still, most importantly, unlike many others in this sector, it doesn’t require programming skills to use it effectively though it does have text-based data fields that can be manually input by those that do have a technical background meaning it is suited for companies having both technical and non-technical staff. Though there have been some negative reviews by users surrounding the need for a tutorial on how to use the system.

6. McAfee MVISION Cloud

Customer Ranking: 4.5/ 5

Mcafee review

The important word with McAfee is consistency. As providers, they have maintained their top position in computer security regardless of technological advancements and the ever-changing threats that came with moving servers to the cloud. Their system makes it easy to collaborate with different web servers without hassle while providing an in-depth understandable analysis of threats.

We were fairly surprised to see this security giant rank lower than new systems with consumers; the system has lost a fair bit of ranking due to bugs such as scans restarting or freezing. There is also some negative feedback on the pricing/ cost of this security system and its need for regular updates. These are things we hope to see remedied so it can take its place back at the top of the rankings.

5. Trend Micro Cloud One

Customer Ranking: 4.6/ 5

Trend one is a powerful multifunctional defense system and among the functions is the temporary virtual patching system, meaning the system’s response to breaches is almost immediate. The virus scanning is quick but thorough, making it a system that demands respect. There have been issues with functions that were not easily remedied. Now developers have addressed this as an area that is being improved.

According to reviews, there have been some issues with false positive alerts which causes some annoyance, but the program is otherwise a good pay to protect your cloud workload.

4. VMware Carbon Black

Customer Ranking: 4.6/ 5

In second is VMware providing their all-in-one system. Available in this is cloud storage, networking, and security. The most impressive feature is their disaster prevention backup system integrated into their programs that means if anything does go wrong, there is always an easy and fast way to return to an earlier backup of your system without interrupting your business day.

Like some others in this list, this lost some rating points with customers due to the need to know complicated query language elements; making it difficult to use by non-developers.

3. Sophos Central

Customer Ranking: 4.6/ 5 stars

Sophos made the list due to its positive reviews surrounding the ease of onboarding. This system has a remarkable ability to create custom policies and deploy them to groups of machines or users quickly without it causing much of a delay. Unlike Snow, however, there have been some issues reported surrounding the delayed response to newer threats which, unless improved, could see this one fall further down the list in the future.

A big selling point for Sophos is the price point, this comes up as one of the more cost-effective models, meaning if you are on a budget when searching for your cloud security system, you may want to consider Sophos.

2. Skybox Security

Customer Ranking: 4.6/5 stars

Our most User-friendly award goes to Skybox. Every single review for this system mentions how easy to use it is, along with the impressive, centralized interface. There are, of course, some drawbacks, mainly the long time it takes to implement the system, especially if you want it to be almost entirely automated.

However, if you are willing to put that work in, you will be rewarded with informative, automatically generated reports on all firewalls needed to help with your risk analysis strategy. Skybox Security’s system works very well with large server dependant companies, prioritizing vulnerabilities and identifying security holes. Customers tended to favour this as a security system due to its easy-to-understand visual aspects.

Skybox would have been ranked higher, but compatibility issues with Microsoft Azure and lack of online console made it hit our seventh spot, but with future development, this could quickly become a massive contender in cloud security.

Illumio Core number one

Customer Ranking: 4.6/ 5

Illumio Core has an impressively quick set up which has managed to impress many companies, and its ease of rule configuration and troubleshooting simplicity pushed this straight to the top three in our list.

An important feature here is the online console, which allows you to see how your rules impact traffic. The ability to easily create rules and implement them without negatively impacting the business leaves us wondering how it will be beaten.

There have been some issues with the decoupling of API keys and user IDs. The Illumio team is already on the case to fix this, and an update will be released shortly. That quick response from the support team has secured Illumio with our top spot for Cloud Security Management.
